"Just Blown Away..."

The day began with rain in the forecast. The professors left early to avoid a bit of the morning commute crush, especially since yesterday was the second hottest day on record with temps near 100 in London and there was also "left over" heat above and below ground. The students, who have learned the ways of this city, navigated just fine to the clients office.
Our client, Shen, even wore her Chapman t-shirt to the final presentation. The presentation began with no technical issues, and the speakers were ready.

The presentation is about 35 minutes long and showed the culmination of the past five weeks of work. Now it was time to hear what the clients had to say which I will summarize in just a few quotes.
"I was just blown away by the presentations today." Andrew Comer, Buro Happold
"Thank you guys! I'm impressed and touched." Shen Kahn, Cloud Wing
"My understanding and respect for graphic designers has grown. I really enjoyed seeing the synthesis of right and left brain."
We took a group picture, walked to a local Pub where we continued to chat with our client, and with that the 2019 course drew to a close. The students are off to enjoy London for just a bit more before we all head our separate ways.

Penultimate Thursday

And just like that the class is almost over. One day to go. Many things coming together, hopefully just in time for the BIG presentation. Some people were working on logo/branding options, some were working on the presentation deck, some where working on rehearsing what they were going to say and some were working on other aspects of the course.

After lunch the work continued with the 3 professors working with students and helping with everything from file edits, to word smithing, to aesthetic decisions. Rehearsals continued...

It took till a bit after 7 pm, but we left feeling like we were in a good place for tomorrow.

Working and Learning

Today we worked from 9 to 1:15. Then quickly made our way to Turner Duckworth's London office to hear from Miles and Jake about what they do as Creative Director and Designer there.

Then the students were taken down to the Tower Bridge area of town so they can see one more iconic sight as our time in London draws to a close.

Tuesday - long full day

Today was hot in London. Thankfully we worked in the hotel conference room. This has been the normal procedure in the 4 previous years, but this year we have not been able to use them.

The students worked hard until lunch time and then many of us went to the great food vendors on Whitecross street.

The work continued this afternoon. Logos and presentation deck and posters.

We worked late to properly prepare for the BIG Friday presentation.

Monday back to work and a visit to a summer palace

Today began with a very early, too too early, fire alarm and a trip outside to wait for the all clear. At 9 am the business day began with the student working. Working toward the final presentation. The client responded with some much needed feedback, the teams were reshuffled (and we will reshuffle throughout the week) as the students worked hard for half the day. Professor Leland joined Professor Kaiser and Professor Chimenti to add to the success of the project.

At noon we stopped, packed up our things, and headed to the Waterloo station for a lunch on the go and a mellow train ride outside of London.

The beautiful afternoon was theirs to explore this historic and amazing royal residence and all the surrounding gardens.
